Kumar is a Human Resources Professional with a Master’s degree in Management. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate for his contributions to “People Management”. He has over 27 years of experience in the HR space in the IT industry. He is a founding member of New York based Conference Board’s Asia Pacific Shared Services Council. In 2016 he was awarded as “HR Superstar” by HRO magazine, Philadelphia, USA for his contributions to the HR community and is the first Indian to receive this honour. He is also a member of India’s Nasscom (India’s premier IT apex body) Steering Committee on Background Checks providing thought leadership and direction. He is a member of the Academic Council at St. Joseph Institute of Management, Bangalore.
Kumar is with Mindtree running a multi-functional global Shared Services organization. After bringing the processes to a steady state, he is currently spearheading Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives like Chatbot and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) for some of the key internal processes. Earlier, he was involved in driving and rolling out a unique global mobility model for CSC which resulted in cost savings of $2.5M per year. He conceived and implemented an employee relocation program that was custom made for the company, providing enormous cost savings opportunity at the same time meeting the aspirations of mobile employees. The program involved a new health benefits plan in the home and host country, innovative compensation model that had tax gross up plans, intelligent tax equalization provisions and economical immigration process and system without compromising on global compliance requirements.
Kumar has published 2 papers on Work Life Balance in international journals.
His hobbies include Public Speaking, playing Tennis, listening to music, reading books and counselling people.
